Casanova’s life became the stuff legends are made upon. He was described

But the reality was a little different. Giovani Giacomo Girolamo Casanova
was born in Venice in 1725 to parents who were touring actors. He saw
them seldom and was raised almost entirely by his grandmother, (and some
of you know the horror that can create). All things considered he did
rather well, graduating at 17 with a degree in civil law. Later the same
year a disillusioned Casanova entered a seminary. It was only a matter
of time before the priesthood discovered his ongoing encounters with women
and expelled him.
Casanova was a man cast adrift, bouncing from job to job and bed to bed,
rudderless until falling into a circle of alchemists and magicians.
