"The History of Porn - Casanova"
Despite his riches he continued to have notorious and financially rewarding relationships with women. Casanova wandered around Europe, making and losing fortunes, having more brushes with the law (sometimes getting out of jail through the influence of his many satisfied ladies), fighting a few duels with angry husbands and boyfriends, and keeping score of his many affairs.
It wasn’t all a bed of roses however as Casanova wasn’t well
suited to permanent employment. He became so desperate that he considered
entering a monastery but was spared that fate when he met yet another
wealthy, young Baroness.
For many years, he was able to keep up his famous simultaneous
correspondences with many different women, but he was having more and
more difficulty just making a living. To make ends meet he began writing
about his own adventures, probably expanding them as he went along.
Eventually, his opportunities dwindled even more, and he reluctantly accepted
employment as a librarian. Accepting of his new surroundings Casanova
produced among other literary works, twelve volumes of his uncompleted
autobiography.
In the spring of 1798 Casanova contracted a urinary infection and died
in June of that year. On his deathbed he gave the most recent draft of
his autobiography to a nephew, feeling that the posthumous publication
of his memoirs would assure his place in history.
